[REVIEW] Around Thailand : Part 1

Travel around Thailand

You may see this kind of pictures from facebook or twitter but you may not know where their took pictures.
That is the place that I will take you tour in this time. This place call.

"ART IN PARADISE"

Art in paradise is in North Pattaya on Pattaya sai 2. For the price Adult 150 baht, children 100 baht. Inside museum, It show the art that can interact with visitor.

Long way to walk.

Very scare with shark.

Kissing with dolphin.

I am lion.

Feeling peace.

Big Aye and little Nidnoi.

In museum, they divide in 10 rooms : illusion room, under the sea room, wild life room, Art from artist room, civilization room, Dinosaur room, Waterfall room, and other. Most of visitor spend a lot of time in this museum for take a picture.

I hope that everyone will enjoy with this museum.

[REVIEW] Museums are all around : Part3

Let's continue from the previous part. From the previous I took you to tour around the museum that is very popular but in this part I will take you tour some place that behind in Paris.

If you take the metro line 1 to the last station "Chateau de Vincennes". You will find the medium royal resident call "Chateau de Vincennes" that was used in 12th to 18th century and it has preserved its medieval towers, the Saint-Chapelle and the 14th century keep which is the highest of its kind in Europe.

In Chateau de Vincennes has two big building : Resident and the Saint-Chapelle. But they modify some part of resident to be military museum.

For military museum, this opened only first floor. They choose to show some object with description boards for visitors. But it has audio guide for rent when you buy ticket.

The left building is military museum.

Some picture inside museum

The next building that I will take you tour is Chateau de Vincennes in part of Chateau. When you walk into Chateau the first thing that you will see is model of place.

This model has the description for explain, the Braille for blind people and number for choose in audio guide.

Only the tower

If you walk in upstair they have some special room. Why special? I will show you.

As you see the sculpture, If you touch the button. It will have the sound of instrument like the one that sculpture hold. But I knew only harp and organ.

The right build is the Saint-Chapelle

The Saint-Chapelle at Vincennes realised the dreams of King Charles V so it does not look like another Chapelle in Paris.
The model in the Saint-Chapelle.

[LECTURE 5] ICT-Physical Computing

What is Physical Computing?
From my understanding, Physical Computing may about some thing we can touch(Tangible) or interact with them.
Example : Micro-controller, circuit and whole body interaction.

It should be design based on UDL(learning process) or neuroscience.
"Nowadays, neuroscience is popular to use for robotic dev."
"Learning process has two kind : formal(lecture) and informal(free-choice to explore)."

Here is some example of technology

The digital tech with museum and art
     Museum :
  • On-site : walk around, board, audio-guide(multimedia) and digital image.
  • Online(Website) : easy to PR, online can be applied on-site building

Example
Google Art Project : This project make for people who want to see all the museum around the world. It use walking robot walk around museum.

Lifelong learning
     What is lifelong learning?
Lifelong learning means to have self-motivate, on-going to learn.

In term with museum
  • How to promote lifelong learning?
  • Understand role of object.
  • Link the relationship between museum educator and learner.

If museum link to school, it should make like curriculum(learning opportunities).
  • Dialogue : interactive.
  • Choice for visitor to walk or interact.

Museum of the future
  • Place of exploration and discovery.
  • Inquiry.
Some example that technology with museum

[REVIEW] Museums are all around : Part 2

From previous, I take you to look around the famous museum "Louvre museum". This time I gonna take you tour the next famous museum that is "Musee d'Orsay" this place near the centre of Paris.

Direction
You can take both bus or train. But the nearest train is RER which station call RER "Musee d'Orsay station".

Hours
9:30AM - 6:00PM

Price
11,00 euro for adult
8,50 euro for student price(18-25 year olds)
Every first sunday of the month "FREE"

So that I choose to visit this museum on the first sunday of July. You can see from the picture that everyone came.

Inside this museum, it renovate from the old train station. The big clock is the symbol of this place.

On down stair, most of pictures are neo-classic type. But in the up stair is the floor of artists in impressionism and post-impressionism like Monet, Van Goug and others. This museum has rooftop that you can see Musee de Louvre, Montmartre.

For me this museum is much more interesting than other because most of the pictures in this place. I know very beautiful, and the place is not big like Musee de Louvre.

[ASSIGNMENT 2] Whole body interaction(Embodied Interaction)

Whole body interaction(Embodied Interaction)

Whole Body Interaction is “The integrated capture and processing of human signals from physical, physiological, cognitive and emotional sources to generate feedback to those sources for interaction in a digital environment” (England 2009).

Nowadays, we have some technology that can do it. One of theme call "Leap motion".

LEAP MOTION
Leap motion is a computer hardware sensor device that support hand and fingers motions as input.

The leap motion controller use USB to connect between Leap motion and cmputer. In design of its, It has two IR cameras and three infrared LEDs. The LEDs generate a 3D pattern of dots of IR light.and the cameras generate almost 300 frames per second of reflected data, which is then sent through a USB cable to the host computer, where it is analyzed by the Leap Motion controller software using "complex math" in a way that has not been disclosed by the company, in some way synthesizing 3D position data by comparing the 2D frames generated by the two cameras.

It has own store that call "Airspace". In this store you can find many game or application that support to use hands and fingers to controll without using mouse.

Whole Body Introduction (Embodied Interaction)
The integration between human and computer (or technology) that will generate feedback to interact each other.
Challenge for whole body interaction: three main areas of challenges
Design for whole body interaction: Developer should be design the interaction design with the individual element.
  • Example: Multi-user air guitar by using camera-vision and motion sensoring. User stood
  • in front of a camera, pressure pad on floor, strings on display. User move hand
  • then optical flow measure speed of hand and pressure pad for effect.
Engineering of interaction: Recent developments in interaction technologies.
  • - Wiimote from Nintendo - Microsoft Kinect - Toolkit: OpenCV
     Research Philosophy:
  • Human computer Interaction (HCI) begins with topic such as mobile HCI,
  • Ubiquitous computing, location awareness, tangible computing, physical interaction, embodied interaction and virtual /augmented/mixed realities.
Abstract Domain
Conceptual Metaphor and Embodied experience.     A concept metaphor is the interaction between a target and source domain that involves. Interaction of schemas and concepts.

A Complex Abstract Domain Tonal Harmony     This concern in multiple simultaneous pitch source. Example two or more singer or instrumental playing independent but co- ordinate melodic lines.
The sensory motor contingency theory will more explain how this relate to whole body interaction and conceptual metaphor.

Sensory motor contingency theory     Assuming its applicability to the present case study, like if we wish learns to develop their skill in engaging then their motor actions must have the capacity to activity manipulate harmonic sequence to adequately fine level of detail.

Lesson from Delcroze Euhythmics     Applies to musical rhythm rather than harmony, but shares key issue with tonal harmony

Concept Metaphors and Blends in Harmony Space     Harmony space is an interactive digital music system designed to give beginners and expert to performance and analysis to composition

Whole Body Large Display Interfaces for user and designers
User must have
     -  Mouse and keyboard
     -  WIMP (Windows, ICONS, menus, pointers)

Large surface and large display:
such as table, White boards and tack-boards.

Body center interaction     The relation between human bodies and virtual interaction technique that help designers or users easy to reach of the handinstead mouse or laser pointer.

The basic theoretical underpinning of HCI
     -  Fittss law: model of human movement primarily use in HCI, predicts the time required to rapidly
     -  Pratt: existing models of motor control need to study or possibly replaced.

Social conventions:
System could tell the different users transition between close collaboration and independent work.

Example Interaction techniques
     -  Body based tools.
     -  Sharing physical actions.

Interaction Space: distance of shadow with sensor.
3 interaction space - Personal space: occupied by body.
     - Peripersonal space: easy reach by hand.
     - Extrapersonal space: whatever beyond peripersonal space.

A Body Centric Application case study
two remote Wii each hand has hand trackers click event window 7.

Capacitive sensor for whole body interaction: to detect object with touching
3 mode: Load, Shunt, Transmit
Benefit: Cheap, Small, Robust, Flexible, Embedded into environment
History

  • 1907: German physician “Max Cremerobserver the frogs heartbeat.
  • 1909: Leonid Termen: control pitch and volume, tracking body movement.

  • Present: Rekimoto detect hand pose, Taylor and Bove how the ball being held.

Valtonen and team: capture walking of couple around room
  • Sender: under tile
  • Receiver: suspend from ceiling use copper foil
Game controller: action while playing game (move ball, hit ball and walk ball)

In my opinion, whole body interaction is the topic that very challenge to learn and do. There can be more new technology from this. The technology from this topic can be help much more not only in art or museum but also for medical.

[REVIEW] NSM @ Chamchuri Square

I will frankly to say that I intend to go to "Dialogue in the Dark" but some how. When I go there The staff said, it was closed for maintenance.

After that decided to walk and see around there instead. I found that this place is a little "Science Museum" for kid to learn and have fun. Now there are two exhibition that open one is Skeleton exhibition and another is Algae exhibition.

     Let's start with Skeleton exhibition!

This skeleton was a part of dolphin which nearly to become extinct all of skeleton. In this exhibition all the skeleton was a fake skeleton

This skeleton is white rhinoceros.

     Continue with Algae exhibition!

This area is for kids to play around and learning with fun. It look like a kids zone that the exhibition or museum should have for family with kids.

This area is science exhibition to teach and show all things in science. It has a lot of interaction toys for play and explain the reason why.

This call infinity room

This happen because they use mirror to make reflect and reflect continue until we see things infinity.

For the reflection after I visited NSM exhibition, I feel like people are not know much more about this exhibition. May be because they are not public relation much. So visitors are not overcrowd.Next time, I will hope that Dialogue in the dark will not close for maintenance and I can get in there.

[REVIEW] Museums are all around : Part1

Musee is French word that mean Museum in English. Last Year, I had a chance to internship at Paris,France. Here are some museum that I have visited. Some are very interesting. In Paris, It has a lot of museum that you can't visit all in only 2-3 days.

Let's start with Musee du louvre(Lourve Museum).
When I visited there, It has extra exposition. So I buy ticket for MUSEE and EXPOSITION(15,00 Euros)

After you walk into museum. The first place you can see is information. This museum has Plan/Information and audio guide for visitors.

The highlight of this place "Mona lisa".

The Gallery in there.

One of the floor that show about ancient.

Sculpture zone

Jewelry zone.

The sign in Egypt zone.

All the wall is old wall of palace. Use some light to make interaction with visitor.
